Halloween vs. Easter Candy
“Tricker or Treat!” vs. “What’s in your Easter Basket?!” Halloween is known for candy, the whole point of Halloween is to dress up and ask people for candy. Candy is the star of the show! But how many iconic Halloween candies can you think of? I can think of only one, those yucky black and orange wrapped candy. In my house they alway ended up in the trash as soon as they were found in my Halloween pumpkin. What were those gross things made out of and are they the cause of global warming??? Just ‘candy’ for thought! Anyway, think about it, all the best Halloween Candies, you know the candy that your mom or dad takes as soon as they make their ‘safety inspection,’ of your candy haul, are just regular good candy wearing a “Halloween Costume!”
On the other hand I can think of a dozen iconic Easter Candy that I pray the Easter Bunny will leave in my basket every year! From the giant chocolate bunny, to Cadbury Eggs, Robin Eggs, Peeps, and don’t forget the Jellybeans. Easter takes first prize in my opinion for having the best candy! After having a few conversations with my ‘Peeps’ and asking for their thoughts on the matter of Halloween Candy vs. Easter Candy. It was pretty unanimous Easter has the best candy! Insert bunny hop dance party to celebrate the Easter Win here!! My ‘Peeps’ didn’t always agree on the best Easter candy. Some reported that the best Easter Candy was Cadbury Eggs, which is definitely in my top three, and others reported that Peeps were their favorites, those Easter delicacies are not even on my list of good candies. Don’t hate me, it is just my opinion! Peeps actually have a very interesting history, but that is a blog for another day!
According to the website The Food Institute 2023 article; Basket case: Consumers’ Top 10 Easter Candy, Reese Peanut Butter Easter Eggs were the number one Easter Candy. Which is completely accurate in my opinion, but after I looked closer at my beloved Reese Peanut Butter Easter Egg, I found a Reese Peanut Butter Pumpkin, or Reese Peanut Butter Christmas tree dress in the appropriate costume for the Easter holiday! It is a FACT that Reese are the best, but are they a true Easter Candy when they wear a different costume for each holiday? The Food Institute's article went on to list Kinder Chocolate Candy Eggs as number two, and Starburst Easter Jelly Beans as number three best Easter Candies. Those are definitely true Easter Candies! This poll sent my beloved Cadbury Eggs, another true Easter Candy, to the number 5 spot. Robin Eggs didn't even make it on the list, which I think is criminal! Peeps ended up in eight places, which seems like a perfectly respectable spot!
It is clear that ‘We The People’ love our candy no matter the holiday. Whether we are celebrating The Lord rising from the Dead or Zombies walking among the living, if there is a reason to enjoy sugar in any costume we are going to eat it! “Trick or Treat” vs. “What’s in your Easter Basket?,” Easter definitely wins!! Candy may be the star of the show on Halloween, but Easter wins ears down for the most iconic best candy! So grab a Reese Peanut Butter Pumpkin Egg and have a very Happy, Hoppy HallowEaster on me!
